On Tuesday, May 14, the Byram Intermediate School hosted and Arts Exhibit featuring the artwork of more than 350 students. The pieces displayed were created in Visual Art as well as the Health and Life Management courses offered in the curriculum. The two-dimensional artwork displayed was created in Cynthia Hamilton’s class, with a wide variety of medium and subject matter. From still life drawings, printmaking and marker Zentangle patterns to watercolor poetry art and acrylic monochromatic landscape paintings; students’ skills and interests were proudly displayed. The three-dimensional pieces displayed were those created in Teri Harvey’s Health and Life Management class. While a large portion of this curriculum teaches students skills like cooking and finance, on display were the more tangible creations that resulted from the sewing portion of the course. Hand-made puppets and pillows were a big hit this year. Immediately following the Art Exhibit, Choir and Band students put on a concert. The school would like to thank the parents that took the time to come out and support the Arts their children created as well as the administration and facilities staff in making it all a possibility.
