Sparta – Stanley J. Gasior Jr., 76, resident of Sparta for more than 40 years, passed peacefully on Sept. 20, 2018 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He has entered eternal glory with his Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Son of the late Stanley and Catherine Gasior, Stan was born and raised in Garfield, N.J. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1960, attended Pace University, and then served in the U.S. Army. He had a career in semi-conductor manufacturing and management, followed by a period of service for the bereaved at Koch Monument Company in Hackensack. A member of American Musicians Local 248, Stan also performed for many years as a professional drummer throughout the tri-state area. He shared his love of music with his two children who are active performers and music educators.

Stan gave heartfelt time to the community. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church and an active life member and officer of Knights of Columbus Council 588. He also gave years of service as President of the Sussex County MADD Chapter and Chair of the NJ State MADD Council in the 1980’s and 90’s.

Stan loved time with his family. His wife, children, and their families were a great joy to him. His many hobbies included music, photography, ballroom dancing, and baseball – Let’s Go Mets!

He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn (Focarino) of nearly 50 years; son Jim Gasior and his wife Peggy, daughter Jenice (Gasior) Riebe and her husband Dave, and grandchildren Johann and Annika Riebe. Stan also leaves behind his brother Tom, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

The family extends thanks for care provided by Dr. Jumana Chatiwala and Sparta Cancer Center, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Knights of Columbus Council 588, and Sparta Stop&Shop Pharmacy. The family also gives special thanks to friend and caretaker Melanie Torres for her loving care of Stan and for her support of the family in recent years.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at Goble Funeral Home in Sparta. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, Sept. 24 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 588 or Scalpel at the Cross (Scalpelatthecross.org).
