Braves defeat Kittatinny 28-17

  • Newton defensive tackle James Harding takes down Kittatinny ball carrier Austin Seames in the first half. Harding accomplished five tackles and one sack.




  • After catching the ball Newton running back Ryan Kaiser crossed the goal line and kept both feet inbounds in the end zone resulting in a touchdown in the first quarter. Kaiser also rushed for a second touchdown in the second quarter.




  • Newton High School senior Reese Matonis was crowned 2018 homecoming queen. Matonis is a track and field athlete and enjoys volunteering.

After a dent in its winning streak, the Newton High School Braves varsity football team is back on a roll with a 28-17 Homecoming Game win over the Kittatinny Cougars, on Friday Oct. 19. The final score was 28-17. Team records: Kittatinny Cougars 6-2. Newton Braves 7-1. Senior Reese Matonis was crowned homecoming queen. Matonis is a track and field athlete and enjoys volunteering.

It means the Braves now have the division title. Wallkill Valley and Newton end the season with wins over Lenape Valley and Hopatcong.
