— The Fall season brings changing leaves, apple picking, and pumpkin spice, but for some, it also brings itching, watery eyes, and seemingly endless sneezing and congestion. Now Fall allergy suffers in Northern NJ don’t have to take time off from work to see a doctor because online doctor visits have come to our area.

Dr. Catherine Trader, a Family Medicine practitioner in Andover, started a service called Need A Doc Now in July, that allows residents to meet with a local family doctor online to address simple ailments and answer common medical questions.

During allergy, cold, and flu season these remote visits keep patients from being exposed to other patients’ illnesses as well as provide a convenient way to be diagnosed without having to go out in the cold. The ability to schedule virtual doctor visits also gives patients a way to be seen earlier so that they can get relief from their illnesses more quickly than scheduling a traditional in-office visit.

“I saw an opportunity to make visiting a doctor for common ailments such as colds, allergies, early onset influenza and other minor ailments much more convenient for patients,” Dr. Trader said. “Need A Doc Now is designed to connect you virtually with a doctor close to home.”

Trader said you don’t have to be a patient of her Andover practice to take advantage of the online doctor visits on Need A Doc Now. If patients need a follow-up visit they can easily return to their regular primary care doctor, or they can come to Dr. Trader’s office in Andover. If a prescription is needed, the Need A Doc Now system is designed to connect to local pharmacies as well to fulfill prescription orders.

Need a Doc Now is a HIPPA complaint program that utilizes real-time video communications to diagnose diseases likes colds and the flu, injuries like sprains and strains, and ongoing issues like seasonal allergies. Virtual office visits are not limited to Sussex County residents. Currently, they are being utilized by Warren and Morris County residents of all ages as well. Appointments can be made online at www.needadocnow.com.

Dr. Trader has been a family medicine practitioner in Sussex County for more than 25 years. Her patients describe her as knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, and sweet. Her desire to help patients make sense of their symptoms in a setting that is most comfortable to them led her to develop the Need a Doc Now online doctor visit service. She is currently accepting new patients online and at her practice at 8 Lenape Road, Andover, New Jersey 07821.
