What factors can put me at risk for oral cancer?
This month is Oral Cancer Awareness month, and it's important to be aware of the top factors that could put you at risk for oral cancer. Here are a few that you should watch out for:
1. It is common to see oral cancer among those aged 55 years or older.
2. Tobacco of any form will substantially increase your risk. Pipe smokers can also develop cancer of the lips.
4. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is now being associated to about 9,000 different cases of head and neck cancer each year in the US.
5. Poor nutrition can increase your risk for oral cancer. Make sure to add fruits and vegetables regularly in your diet!
