Lonegan for Congress from the 5th district

I'm writing to endorse Steve Lonegan for Congress I first met Steve at a campaign stop when he was running against Christie in the NJ Governor primaries. I didn’t know it then, but his entire career has been all about Constitutional Republican Principles.

He was elected mayor of the Bogota in 1995 beating the Democrat incumbent with a double-digit margin in a town that leaned strongly Democrat. He was re-elected to two additional terms and during that time he made changes to run the town more efficiently such as hiring civilians, not police officers to answer dispatch calls. Bogota’s municipal spending remained constant for the twelve years that Lonegan was mayor. Steve was the only mayor in the entire state who kept debt and tax increases below inflation. He was able to do that despite massive state mandates and reductions in aid to suburban towns like Bogota. At the end of his third-term Steve chose not to run again because he believes in term limits.

Since then, Lonegan has campaigned several times to represent the conservative values of the people of NJ and lost. Fortunately, Steve is not a quitter. With so many republican candidates who run for office as a conservative, only to carry the water for democrats when elected, isn’t that what we looking for in a congressional candidate? Don’t we crave someone who will fight, like a pitbull, to represent constitutional conservative values in Congress? In all the years that I have come to know Lonegan, I know he will go to Congress and represent conservative values to the core.

Lonegan was also the NJ State Director for American’s For Prosperty, a conservative public policy group. Here is how I really got to learn about Steve’s values and tenacity. During his six-year tenure, Steve rallied against NJ debt. He rallied against the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, He rallied against the Affordable Care Act, He rallied for Second Amendment Rights to bear arms, and he’s rallied to protect human life from the moment of conception. He displayed Taxpayer’s First values. He proved that his conservative values were strong and passionate and not just lip service pandering for votes.

During the previous presidential primaries, Steve became the NJ State Chairmen and National spokesman for the Ted Cruz campaign, another pitbull conservative I might add. As chairman, he did everything he knew how to help his candidate get the nomination. But Ted lost. When it was official that Trump was the party candidate for president, Steve refocused his attention to help the party win. He quickly refocused his support for Donald Trump and has done so since. Steve supports Trump's agenda to build a wall, secure our borders, end sanctuary cities and crack down on illegal immigration.

I support Steve Lonegan for Congress 100%. I strongly believe Steve is the man we need in Congress right now! Steve’s bravery and his courage to continue to fight and bring his conservative voice to leadership is something to be admired.
