Newton Day will see 'Battle of the Bands'

— New this year at The Newton Day Festival on June 9 is the Battle of the Bands, which is being held at Memory Park, Moran Street, beginning at 5:00 PM.

Over 30 bands applied to have the honor of playing to win a recording session at Ponderosa Studios. The committee has culled the applicants and 8 have been chosen to perform for the audience. Professionals in the music industry will be on hand to judge in the following categories: Quality of Songs, Tightness, Stage Presence, Musicality, and Crowd Interaction. Prizes are as follows: 1st. Place – 6 hour recording session at PondeRosa Studios, 2nd Place – 4 hour recording session, and 3rd Place – 3 hour recording session.

The bands will be performing right up until the Fireworks Finale. There will be vendors in the park supplying food and drink and there will be inflatables, children’s games, and a wagon ride for the young at heart. So come to Memory Park for an evening of music and fun for the whole family.

The Newton Day Festival is being held on Saturday, June 9th beginning on Spring Street at 11:00 AM featuring crafters, vendors, civic organizations, music, Mad Science, Rizzo’s Reptiles, and our free ‘Merry-go-round.’ The festival moves to Memory Park at 4:30 PM where we kick off the evening festivities.
