— Recently opened Art Etc is more than just a frame store. Offering a range of services from art installation, printing, art shipping and appraisals, owner Marshall Okin is looking to take the intimidation out of owning art and offer a customized approach to servicing your art needs.

And it doesn’t have to be a Rembrandt.

“This location is our attempt to offer the community our services in a retail environment,” Okin said. “We guarantee the lowest prices at museum quality. We are at lower cost than our competition.”

Big box stores such as AC Moore, Okin said, have given the independent owner a run for his money by offering ‘generic ‘ framing services at what people think is a low price. He added that Art Etc has trained employees with years of art experience, and the quality of his frames are better.

“We have affordable ready-made frames that are very competitive. We also offer high-end and anything in-between. Whatever the size, style, — it could be a print — we are happy to help you design the right frame.”

In other words, Art Etc offers a better price-value relationship than the big box store, he said.

“People think they save by going to a big box store. We are always less money,” Okin said.

Art Etc will frame kids art, photos, inexpensive prints and heirlooms.

“Fine art printing from digital files or scanning is very popular," he said.

Okin suggested customers call or email to make an appointment for a free consultation on an art inquiry.

Art Etc also distinguishes itself as an art and design company that services interior design for businesses as well as design firms. Okin and his team, for example, are doing all the interior art design for the new Sparta Medical building on Route 15. This same approach can be translated to the home, he said.

Okin, an artist himself, has been in the business a long time, working for a large frame retailer for 14 years. His main studio and gallery is on Wall Street in Manhattan focusing on corporate clients. A resident of Hamburg, NJ, Okin looked to Sparta to have a home base. Before Sparta, Art Etc was in Newton on Spring St.

In the spirit of supporting art in the community, Art Etc aligns with schools and sponsors free art shows at the gallery. Both Walkill Valley High School on June 1 and Sparta High School on June 15 will have art shows hosted at Art Etc.

“We are into mentoring young artists and giving gallery experience to art students so they learn how to hang art for a real art show and have the real gallery," Okin said.

Okin does this all volunteer and takes no commissions or fees.

As for art sold at Art Etc., there is a rotating show on display with artists' work available for purchase.

Art Etc is located at 25 Centre St. Suite 203. Tel. 973-619-9455; <URL destination="http://www.artetcnj.com ">www.artetcnj.com
