Dr. Jonice Thompson Withanachchi
What is halitosis?
Halitosis is chronic bad breath. Things like "morning breath" are only for a short time, while halitosis is longer lasting and could indicate underlying symptoms of something worse. Some causes for halitosis are:
• Cavities and deep pockets (both can harbor bacteria)
• Dry mouth
• Mouth, nose, throat infections
• Smoking and tobacco
• Chronic conditions, such as gastric reflux, diabetes, kidney disease, etc.
Remember to brush twice a day and floss at least once a day, as well as rinse with mouthwash once a day! Talk to your dentist if bad breath still persists.
