Mecaj for Town Council

Some, probably not all, of Newton’s citizens are aware that there will be an election for the Newton Town Council on May 8. While I am not familiar with most of the candidates, I can vouch for one of them, Dr. Ludmilla Mecaj. I have known her and worked with her for years, and observed several strong characteristics which are relevant to her potential contribution to Newton as a member of Council.

First, when she undertakes any responsibility she gives her heart and soul to make it a success. Second, she is truly dedicated to the town of Newton, as evidenced by her many volunteer activities for the town: she managed the Miss Newton contests for several years, served on the Recreation Committee, and for the college has successfully recruited students from abroad. Third, she is one of the most honest people I know; if she promises to do something she exerts great effort to do so. And, having successfully mediated scores of controversies, she would be of value on a Council which appears to suffer from dissension.
