What are food that I should avoid and what is okay to eat when I have braces?

Hard and sticky food should be avoided, such as:

• Ice

• Taffy or other chewy candy

• Gum

• Popcorn

• Nuts

• Hard pretzels

The first few days after your braces get tightened are usually the worst, where your teeth may feel sore and tender. Go for softer food, such as:

• Meatloaf

• Pasta

• Frozen yogurt

• Oatmeal

• Scrambled eggs

• Pudding

• Chicken or tuna salad

• Cooked veggies
