NEWTON — First Book is a national non-profit organization with a simple mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books.
Team First Book – Sussex County, sponsored by NORWESCAP Child & Family Resource Services (CFRS), has been working for over 17 years with local literacy programs to distribute new books to children who, for economic reasons, have little or no access to them.
Our Team fundraises and selects community tutoring, mentoring, and literacy programs serving at-risk children to give book grants which enable these local programs to purchase books through the National First Book Bank at very reasonable prices so that they can distribute several books to each child in their program during the year.
All monies raised in Sussex County stays in Sussex County.
For more information to support the good work of Team First Book in Sussex County, please contact Kathy Draghi at CFRS 973-383-3461.
