— Jefferson Township High School defeated Newton High School (Sussex County, N.J.) in girls varsity basketball on Thursday, March 1, 2018. The final score was 54-41. The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) North Jersey, Section 1, Group 2 Tournament, Quarterfinal Round took place at Jefferson Township High School in Oak Ridge, New Jersey.

Taylor Langan scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead third-seeded Jefferson to victory against 11th-seeded Newton in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 2 tournament in Jefferson.

Nicole Lemieux scored a 16 points and dished five assists and Victoria Pietraszkiewicz added 11 points and six assists for Jefferson.

Maddie Leonardo finished with 10 points and Emily Papas chipped in nine for Newton.

Jefferson lost to Westwood (46-33) in the Section 1, Group 2 semifinal played on Saturday, March 3rd.

Team records: Jefferson Falcons 21-7. Newton Braves 16-10.
