— Newton High School (Sussex County, N.J.) defeated Dover High School (Morris County, N.J.) in boys varsity basketball on Tuesday, February 28, 2018. The final score was 68-59. The game took place at Newton High School.

Jake Tarabokija scored scored 29 points to lead top-seeded Newton to a victory against 16th-seeded Dover in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 2 Tournament in Newton.

Thomas Salomon added nine points and Troy Babcock, Luke Young and Jacob Heller contributed eight points apiece for Newton.

Rafael Castro scored 17 points and Robbie Strelec finished with 15 for Dover.

Team records: Dover Tigers 10-17. Newton Braves 22-3.
