Why did my teeth change color?

There are a few reasons why your teeth could change from white to a yellower, not-so-white tint.

1.Food & beverages - coffee and red wine are a few examples of food that have intense color pigments that attach to your tooth surface and cause staining.

2.Tobacco - Tobacco contains tar and nicotine, which are staining agents. When mixed with oxygen, nicotine turns into a yellowish-staining substance.

3.Trauma - When hit, your teeth lays down more dentin (second layer of your tooth that is yellow-colored) as a way of recovery.

4.Age - as you age, your enamel wears and thins down due to brushing and acidity of the food and drinks you take in. As the enamel gets thinner, more of the yellowish dentin shows through.
