Spartans rally stalls in loss to Voorhees Vikings in quarterfinal round

Voorhees High School (Lebanon Township, N.J.) defeated Sparta High School in boys varsity basketball on Saturday, Feb. 10. The final score was 54-53. The Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament, Quarterfinal Round took place at Sparta High School in Sparta Township.

Eric Schroeter scored 17 points and had the game-winning points off a three-point play to lead seventh-seeded Voorhees to a victory.

Kyle Kokoski added 13 points and Matt Kroll and Joey Capone chipped in eight points apiece for Voorhees.

Jack Cavanaugh scored 19 points and Dante Joefield finished with 11 for second-seeded Sparta.

Voorhees will play sixth-seeded North Hunterdon in the semifinals scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17 in Warren Hills.

Team records: Sparta Spartans 12-5; Voorhees Vikings 16-3.
