What is thrush?
Thrush, or candidiasis, is a fungal infection that is common among people who wear dentures. A common site for this is the hard palate, or the roof of the mouth. This occurs when the bacteria, Candida albicans, are large in number. This can occur in those with weak immune systems, as well as people who have dry mouth syndrome. To prevent this, it's important to maintain good oral hygiene, such as thoroughly cleaning dentures and removing them at bedtime. Ask your doctor for medications or rinses to treat dry mouth.
