Stanhope — Lenape Valley Senior Girl Scout Troop 418 hosted its second annual paint with a purpose night on January 26th,2018. Over 155 participants came out for a night of community service creating art by painting ceramic hearts, and writing inspirational notes to those who need it most. Sister Scouts from the Sparta Service Unit were in attendance, as well as GSNNJ representatives Judy Ginty and Maria Gonzales, and Terry Becker who is on the board of directors for Hearts of Hope. After all hearts were glazed and packaged, we were able to create over 300 gifts that will be donated to local charities, including, hospitals, children's hospitals, cancer centers, veterans organizations, and anywhere where these handmade gifts of art, will inspire and help heal those who are suffering. This was the single largest Girl Scout event in the non-profits Our Hearts of Hope’s history. To learn more about this national organization please visit them at www.ourheartsofhope.org and consider hosting your own paint with a purpose night to help heal others, and create hope. Troop 418 members Jess, Kaylin, Sophia, Theresa, and Gabby are 10th grade Sophomores at Lenape Valley High School. They have been together since the first grade and focus their talents and energies on giving back to their community by doing service projects such as this one. To inspire others, to demonstrate selfless service to your community, never for personal gain, but to the betterment of others, to build hope and confidence in younger girls, and to lead by example as volunteers has been this troops’ focus, and Leaders Mrs. Dan and Mrs. Botha couldn't be more proud to serve alongside these fine young women.
