NEWTON — Congratulations to Kittatinny Regional High School Senior Emily Jerger for receiving 1st place, and "Best in Show" at the recent Peters Valley Art Competition for her ceramic sculpture titled "Strangle Hold." This is a very prestigious award, and many entries countywide were submitted. This also entitles Emily to a Peters Valley Scholarship.

Eight KRHS students had artwork selected for the Sally D. Francisco Gallery located upstairs from the Peters Valley Craft Store. The exhibit is sponsored by the Peters Valley Craft Center and celebrates young artists. Some of our young artists involved were: Sabrina Leonard, Taylor Loevlie, Maddy McManus-Davis, Christina Ishiba, Jessica Van Glahn, Blare Sullivan, and Cheryl Stober.

The exhibit is from January 14 - February 1. Feel free to stop by and support Peters Valley as well as the young artists who contributed their pieces. The art competition, which was open to all New Jersey high school students, included four categories: original hand-drawn artwork, jewelry, 3-Dimensional pieces, and photography. Pictures do not do these works of art justice. They can not capture all the intricacies of the artwork. It is well worth a visit to appreciate the talented, up and coming artists we have here in New Jersey.

The street address is: 19 Kuhn Road Layton, NJ 07851. Phone # 973-948-5200.
