— Stillwater Girl Scout Troop 9-5678 will cook and serve dinner to 25-30 veterans and their families on Thursday, February 1, 2018. On the menu is Italian night, with pasta, and all kinds of great, homemade food for the vets and their families. Dinner will be served at the Sparta Middle School on Rt. 517 in Sparta at 6:30 pm.

“This will be a great learning experience for the scouts. They will get to meet the vets and the families, break bread with them and do a little pay back thanking them for the service they provided to our country”, said Jennifer Domaracki, troop co-leader. “The girls of troop 9-5678 are working on their Bronze award and are very excited about this opportunity to serve the veterans and their families”, said co-leader Lydia Bessler.

These families are part of a program “Military Families Night Out, run by Patrice Reilly and the Center for Prevention in Newton. This came about at the Santa Shop hosted by Sandy Mitchell and Project Help this past December 21, 2017. Jennifer Dahl-Domaracki is the troop leader and the director of Marketing for Project Help. Jennifer is a graphic designer and runs her own business and is a co-founder of the 3Bs Findery, a pop up store in Branchville featuring upcycled merchandise. The Project Help mobile closet project is one that hopes to have these girl scouts involved in. The closet is a converted school bus that is close to being road ready. When that happens, lots of help will be needed to freshen up the clothes and load them on the bus. Organization is going to be a primary function and willing helpers will make that all possible.
