— The Creative Arts students in Heather Anderson and George Soutter’s classes created pottery and framed art work for the “Empty Bowls” project which is a charity organization to combat hunger. Each piece of artwork was sold at the Kittatinny High School Craft Fair held on December 21. The art pieces sold from $2.00 to $15.00. Half of all proceeds were donated to Manna House which is a local soup kitchen in Newton. The other half will be donated to the Yna Said Memorial Fund, which goes to families in need within the district. We have been doing this fundraiser for over 10 years and have been able to raise over $2000.00 in that time. This year we were able to raise $217.00. The visual arts students at Kittatinny wanted to do a community service project to help those in need locally. We felt that this would be a great way to create art for a good cause and to give back to the community.

This year, Mrs. Anderson applied for a grant through the Hampton Education foundation and received $300 for glaze, clay and pottery supplies in order to keep “Paying it Forward.”
