KRHS students cited in art show

Newton — Earlier this month, the Kittatinny Regional High School art department was invited to participate in the Wallkill Valley Regional High School’s 7th Annual High School Art Show.

There was over 130 pieces of art work from the following categories:

• Drawing/Illustration

• Painting

• Pottery/Sculpture

• Photography (Both digital & manual)

• Crafts (Glass, Jewelry, basketry, etc.)

• Open (Printmaking, Collage, etc.)

• Graphic Arts

This year, Kittatinny took first, second and third place in the Sculpture division, making it a clean sweep.

Emily Jerger took 1st for "Strangle Hold" a handbuilt ceramic dragon wrapped around a handbuilt vase.

Sabrina Leonard took 2nd place for her 9 piece wheel thrown Teapot Set

Cheryl Stober took 3rd place for her rendition of "Poseidon's Chalice" a hand-built ceramic Octopus Goblet

In the junior high division, Michael Mangino took 2nd place in the Crafts division.

Certificates were awarded in each category, as well as Best in Show. Representatives from Sussex County Community College, Delaware College of Art and Design, Marywood University, William Paterson University, Art Etc. Gallery, & Peter’s Valley were there. There were also representatives from additional schools there to discuss college entrance requirements to their universities.
