— Thirty FIRST® Tech Challenge teams from northern New Jersey will compete at Lenape Valley Regional High School on Nov. 19, 2017. LVBRHS is the first Sussex County school chosen to host a FTC Competition.

The Relic Recovery© game, unveiled in September, challenges teams of 15 students to design, build and program a robot to accomplish a variety of tasks and earn points. Teams score points by collecting, moving and stacking glyphs – 6 x 6-inch foam blocks – in specific patterns, knocking the opposing team’s jewels from their position, grabbing and placing a relic outside the playing field before successfully balancing the robot on a rocking platform before time runs out.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, pre-registered teams will begin arriving for the day-long competition at 8 a.m., with match play to begin at 10 a.m. Competition will take place in the gymnasium. The cafeteria will serve as the pit area for teams waiting to compete.

The Lenape Valley Robotics team prepares its children for the real world, with strong focuses on teamwork, professionalism and hands-on problem solving while developing a passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Admission is free. Breakfast, lunch and snack items will be available for purchase, with proceeds to support Lenape Valley Robotics.

Lenape Valley Regional High School, 28 Sparta Road, Stanhope, NJ.
