  • New emergency room at Newton Medical Center

  • Foundation raised money for the transformation

— On Tuesday, October 4, Newton Medical Center Foundation invited friends and supporters to view the newly renovated areas of the emergency room. The togethER campaign which was launched in 2016 is nearing its goal of $1.5 million with $1,438,700 raised to date.

Over the past year Newton Medical Center has transformed its emergency room into a leading edge facility with a brand new fast-track treatment area with six triage areas including two private rooms. The fast-track is designed to treat less critically ill patients with a dedicated team of clinicians. A reconfiguration of the main hub of the ER was also renovated to provide greater efficiencies for nurses and physicians and better access to critically ill patients.

“The Newton Medical Center Foundation is incredibly grateful to all those who have supported this important initiative,” said George Morville, campaign chair. “We are blessed to have a community that has always been there for the hospital.”

Anther focus of the campaign centered on the patient experience. New amenities have already been added including valet parking outside the emergency room. A dedicated ER patient liaison is also a new service providing patients and family with non-clinical things they may need during their stay. These items may include a warm blanket or something to eat or drink. The liaison can also assist in enhancing communication between the patient and the clinical staff.

“As our patient population grows, Newton Medical Center must ensure that the people who live and work in this region continue to have access to an Emergency Room that provides advanced medical care with a focus on exceptional service,” said Joe DiPaolo, president of Newton Medical Center. “The togethER campaign has assisted in providing the life giving care our patients deserve and ensure a great patient and family experience, every time.”
