Newton trounces KRHS in football opener

Hampton — Newton High School defeated Kittatinny Regional High School in varsity football on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The final score was 34-0. The season opener took place at Kittatinny Regional High School in Hampton Township.
The Newton Braves visited the end zone early and often. Quarterback Luke Young passed for 178 yards and two touchdowns for Newton. Running back Chase Cramer rushed for 132 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. Noah Rivera-Sharp also contributed one rushing touchdown.
Receiver Jaiden Elliott made four catches for 123 yards and a touchdown and receiver Will Larsen caught a 55-yard touchdown pass for Newton.
On the defensive side Newton was just as productive. Dante Northe and Noah Rivera-Sharp each accomplished one interception. Ryan Kaiser and William Larsen each accomplished six tackles for Newton.
The Kittatinny Cougars struggled throughout the contest and had no answer to stop Newton.
